A song for the ascent to Jerusalem.
1 How happy are those who fear the LORD-- all who follow his ways!
2 You will enjoy the fruit of your labor. How happy you will be! How rich your life!
3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine, flourishing within your home. And look at all those children! There they sit around your table as vigorous and healthy as young olive trees.
4 That is the LORD's reward for those who fear him.
5 May the LORD continually bless you from Zion. May you see Jerusalem prosper as long as you live.
6 May you live to enjoy your grandchildren. And may Israel have quietness and peace.
A beautiful Psalm of blessing for those that fear the LORD, and are following in His ways. It is reiterated again in verse 4, these blessings are God's reward for those who fear the LORD.Your labor of love, living for God, will be fruitful and you will eat of that fruit, having joy and prosperity.
This picture of prosperity is a little bit different from the typical modern day home. His wife is flourishing within the home, and the kids are all around his table, a joy to him! And the continued blessing is that he will live to enjoy his grandchildren! This takes time together at home, and right priorities to bring about.
Be blessed with the Lord's reward!
Lord, help me to put You in the highest place in my life, to live to know You and walk in Your ways. Thank you that I will reap that fruitful harvest that is Your reward!
