1 Shout with joy to the LORD, O earth!
2 Worship the LORD with gladness.
Come before him, singing with joy.
3 Acknowledge that the LORD is God!
He made us, and we are his.
We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving;
go into his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him and bless his name.
5 For the LORD is good.
His unfailing love continues forever,
and his faithfulness continues to each generation.
This Psalm instructs us to "shout" with joy, to "worship" with gladness, to "acknowledge" that the Lord is God, and to "enter" with thanksgiving. Our worship of God is active and involves every part of ourselves!
Additionally, this psalm pictures us as His sheep (v.3). In John 10:6-10 Jesus says that He is the "gate" to the sheepfold. We enter the Kingdom of God through Him.
Because the Lord is good, and we are His sheep, we have every reason to give Him thanks and bless His name!
