27 The LORD is God, shining upon us. Bring forward the sacrifice and put it on the altar.

If you take a step forward from the psalmist's time to ours, you can see that this psalm describes the victory Christ won for us over death and hell.
The gates where the righteous enter have now been opened to those in Christ Jesus (v. 19). We have open access to the presence of God (v. 20).
In verses 21 - 27 we see a prophesy of the coming Messiah. Jesus quoted verses 22-23 speaking of Himself as rejected by the Jews Check it out in Matthew 21:33-46. Verse 26 was also quoted in the New Testament when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the donkey to the praise and adoration of the people.
You can see that God has had a plan of redemption for those who will believe on His Son from the very beginning. This can bring us great comfort!
